Louis W. Pierro is the founding partner of Pierro, Schaeffer & Connor, LLC and co-founder and partner of Pierro & DiGiorgio, LLC, and concentrates his practice in the areas of Estate & Tax Planning, Business Succession Planning and Elder Law. Mr. Pierro was named 2014 NY Elder Law “Lawyer of the Year” by U.S. News & World Report and he has been selected to “The Best Lawyers in America”,“SuperLawyers”, the “Best Lawyers in New York” and has maintained an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 1999.
A graduate of Lehigh University and Albany Law School, Mr. Pierro was admitted to the bar in January 1984, and is licensed to practice in all New York State Courts, the US Supreme Court and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Pierro has Chaired the Elder Law Section; the Estate Planning Committee and the Committee on Taxation of the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, and currently serves as Legislative Liaison for the Elder Law Section. He is a member of theNational Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and the American Bar Association, Probate and Trust Section.
Mr. Pierro served as an adjunct professor at Siena College, where he lectured on Estate Planning from1 987-1995. He has lectured extensively on Estate Planning and Elder Law, including national programs such as the New York University Tax Institute and Wealth Counsel National Study Group, numerous state bar programs, and regional programs for the Oneida County Bar Association, American Institute of CPA’s, the Investment Management Association, New York City Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors, and others.
Mr. Pierro is founder and director of ElderCounsel, a national organization of Elder Law and Special Needs law firms, which provides proprietary software, education and services to attorneys across the country. He is also founder of Advocates Planning Group, an attorney membership organization dedicated to providing the tools, techniques and support for Delaware Trusts.
