Biography

Whitney Wilson has practiced law in Louisville, Kentucky since 2004. Her practice at Elder Law of Louisville is focused solely on Elder Law, which includes Wills, Powers of Attorney, Advanced Directives, Trusts, Trust Administration, Medicaid Planning, VA Benefits Planning, Special Needs,Guardianship and Probate.  She is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and is accredited by the VA to assist veterans and their families with claims for benefits.

Whitney was voted a 2015 “Best of Louisville” attorney by Louisville Magazine for her Elder Law work.  She also received a 2015 Continuing Legal Education Award from the KY Bar Association(KBA). Whitney also had the honor of being nominated as a KBA 2016 Distinguished Lawyer and asa Louisville Business First’s 2016 Forty Under 40.

In the Louisville, KY area, Whitney is an active member of the Louisville Bar Association (LBA),participating in the Estate & Probate Section and Disability Section.  She is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Metro Louisville (EPCML).  State-wide, Whitney is actively involved with the KBA, having served as Chair of its Elder Law Section, currently serving as Chairman of the CLE Committee of the Elder Law Section, and currently sitting on the Legislative Committee of the Estate/Probate Section.  Whitney also enjoys membership in the KY Guardianship Association(KGA).  Nationally, Whitney is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA),ElderCounsel, and the Academy of Special Needs Planners (ASNP).

Whitney regularly writes and educates on Elder Law topics.  She is a contributing author of the Kentucky Elder Law book published by Thomson Reuters as part of its Kentucky Practice Series. She provided and updates its VA Chapter.  She also co-authored with her law partner, Eileen Walsh, the article “Paying for Long Term Care Without Medicaid”, which was published in the American Bar Association’s Bifocal, a Journal of the ABA Commission on Law and Aging.  Whitney has also guest lectured for Stetson University’s Elder Law LLM program and presented numerous topics at KBA, LBA,UofL, and UK events, as well as for national legal seminar companies and at local facilities,organizations and charities.
